Effective Ways to Protect Yourself Against Phishing Attacks (1) – WEEX

It is well known that the human being is the most important, yet the weakest link in a security system. It is vital that users remain vigilant:

Phishing messages usually contain subtle or minor vulnerabilities such as weird syntax, spelling mistakes, poorly formed sentences, or suspicious domain names. You can get into the good habit of checking links by hovering your cursor over the link to check if the domain is correct.
Phishing attackers also often try to create a sense of urgency to push or pressure the user to take action as soon as possible. For example, an attacker may send an email claiming that your account is about to expire and ask you to complete verification within a limited time, or send a text message to lure you into transferring your assets to a so-called "safe wallet" as soon as possible in order to avoid losses.

Always make sure you are using the latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox. These browsers can automatically detect high-risk or unsafe phishing websites and alert the user in time, as shown below:

We recommend users who are more experienced with computers to check the validity of the SSL certificate of the website they are currently accessing.
Enable Google Authenticator (2FA) or SMS verification. Also stay vigilant and never disclose the 16-digit key for your Google 2FA to anyone or to any website. If you accidentally disclose your username and password, 2FA is still effective in preventing hackers from logging in to user accounts.
Use Chrome or Firefox Netcraft plugins, which can detect phishing websites.
