Formula for calculating profit and loss: Profit and loss from futures trading (approximate value)
For long positions (Buy up): Profit = (closing price - opening price) x conts of number x futures face value
For short positions (Buy down):
Profit = (opening price - closing price) x conts of number x futures face value
Floating profit and loss = opening direction x (latest mark price - opening price) x position quantity ÷ margin price
*The position direction is long is 1, and short is -1
Example:
If you bought 1000 conts at $50,000 (buy up) and closed at $60,000:
Profit = (60,000 - 50,000) x 1000 x 0.001 = 10,000 USDT
If you bought 1000 conts at $50,000 (buy down) and closed at $40,000:
Profit = (50,000 - 40,000) x 1000 * 0.001 = 10,000 USDT
