Dear WEEXers,
Announcement regarding impersonation of official platform staff, fake software, and government department scams.
Recently, we have discovered multiple instances of individuals posing as platform staff (customer service/security center) or government departments contacting users, claiming that their accounts are involved in money laundering or other illegal activities. They request users to cooperate with security checks or to remove account risks/freezes. These scammers exploit users' fear to steal account information or trick them into completing withdrawals or transfers.
Scam Method 1: Be cautious of unfamiliar software impersonating legitimate platforms, with the intention of defrauding customers of their funds.
Scam method 2: They may ask you to add them on WeChat or QQ or other social media accounts, then request your email to send you a link or QR code. After clicking the link or scanning the code, they will prompt you to enter your account details, such as your WEEX account or bank account, to complete the account theft.
Scam method 3: They may instruct you to download a meeting app or a fake version of the WEEX app, asking you to enable screen sharing or allow remote access to your phone. Additionally, they may request your phone verification code or Google Authenticator code under the pretense of verifying that you are the one operating the account, completing the account theft.
Scam method 4: They may guide you through buying and selling crypto, instructing you to withdraw funds to a so-called [safe account] or a designated address. Alternatively, they may threaten you, demanding a transfer to a designated bank account to unfreeze your account, thereby completing the scam.
Scam method 5: Recently, we have discovered scammers impersonating official staff in private chats, sending fake articles titled [Countdown: OnlyCoin WEEX?] These articles are designed to maliciously defame WEEX by spreading false rumors using doctored images. By spreading false rumors through altered graphics and text including information such as shutdown and fund abnormalities, they aim to defraud customer funds by luring users to click on phishing websites. If you notice anything suspicious, please report it to customer service immediately.
WEEX will continue to fulfill our responsibilities and grow steadily. Please check the anti-fraud announcement here:https://weexsupport.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/6021635142169-Announcement-on-Clearing-Fake-News-and-Exposing-Fraudulent-Path
